General Description Of The Project |
|||||
The ambition of the Han-Pisa Project is to fully exploit and disseminate the richness of the cultural heritage of both China and Europe by focussing on 'in situ' presentation of archaeological sites. China is endowed with remarkable cultural heritage, which makes the cultural domain of growing importance in the Sino-European relationship. Two sites are taken as exemplars: (1) The Han Yangling underground museum, famous for showing terracotta images in their original archaeological context at the foot of the imperial burial mound of emperor Jing Di of the Han dynasty (ca 150 BCE).
(2) The San Rossore site in Pisa, Italy, famous for the 'in situ' preservation and research of ancient ship wrecks dating from the Classical period till the Early Middle Ages. |
